Aka Manto and Ao Manto, Who Ask for a Color in the Toilet
霊・亡霊Across Japan (recorded in Toyoshina, Tokyo, Amagasaki, and Fujisawa)
A school-toilet color-choice ghost story in which a voice asks "A red mantle or a blue mantle?" or "What color paper do you want?" and turns the answer into an ending involving blood, complexion, or clothing. The questioner may be a cloaked man, a ghost, or a disembodied voice; some versions allow escape through white, yellow, or words of refusal. It shares a name and the color red with the 1939 Tokyo rumor of a Red-Mantled Man, but no direct lineage has been established.
