The Maya calendar is one of the most sophisticated time-keeping systems ever devised. Built by the ancient Maya civilization of Mesoamerica, it weaves together a 260-day sacred almanac (the Tzolk'in), a 365-day solar year (the Haab'), and a Long Count that tracks vast cosmic cycles. The Tzolk'in and Haab' interlock to form a 52-year "calendar round" — the basic rhythm by which the Maya organized ritual, agriculture, and identity.
Inside the 260-day Tzolk'in, every date is the combination of one of 20 day-signs (Sun Seals) and one of 13 numbers (Galactic Tones). 20 × 13 = 260. Each combination is a unique "KIN" number from 1 to 260, and the KIN attached to your birth date is read as a signature of your essence — what gifts you carry, what you came here to learn.
The modern Dreamspell (13-Moon Calendar), formulated by José Argüelles in the late 20th century, reinterprets the ancient Tzolk'in for contemporary practice. The lookup table on this page follows the Dreamspell convention used by Japanese Maya calendar practitioners — the most common system you'll meet online.
