Tachikawa Benten Pondたちかわべんてんいけ

Musashino traditions connect Suribachiyama, Mujinakubo, Senzoku Pond, and Koike Pond through the footsteps and walking staff of Daidarabotchi. In a 1919 recorded tradition, Senzoku Pond marks the impact of his staff; in a variant published in 1983, Koike Pond becomes the staff hole while Senzoku Pond marks the place where he urinated. Shifting the mythic roles of local landmarks across different tellings, these variants functioned as narrative maps that interpreted regional topography through an immense body, preserving how communal memory organized the landscape independently of its geological formation.
