Mōryō Crawls from the Grave Water
A red-eyed, childlike shadow plants one hand at the water’s edge, black hair flaring upward. Scarlet and ink-dark vapors burst from its back; pale remains lie beneath the water at its feet. Mōryō names uncanny beings of mountains, rivers and burial grounds, some said to crave corpses or the livers of the dead. With no single shape to contain it, its presence at the edge of a funeral is more unsettling still.
