Mōryō — 戦闘姿勢

MōryōMOH-ryoh

Mōryō Crawls from the Grave Water

A red-eyed, childlike shadow plants one hand at the water’s edge, black hair flaring upward. Scarlet and ink-dark vapors burst from its back; pale remains lie beneath the water at its feet. Mōryō names uncanny beings of mountains, rivers and burial grounds, some said to crave corpses or the livers of the dead. With no single shape to contain it, its presence at the edge of a funeral is more unsettling still.

Kama-itachi — 戦闘姿勢

Kama-itachikah-mah-ee-TAH-chee

Kamaitachi, One Flash of Wind

A white weasel twists in mid-strike, crossing the sickle claws on both hands. Red cloth and black wind close into a circle, while one scarlet line at its feet struggles to follow the cut. Kamaitachi rides the whirlwind and opens human skin as cleanly as a blade. The wound is said to bring little pain or blood at first; only after the wind has passed do you notice it.

Ryōmen Sukuna — 戦闘姿勢

Ryōmen SukunaRyōmen Sukuna

Four Arms Aim Two Histories

In a storm of red and ink, a four-armed giant draws two bows at once. Two faces, streaming hair and the swords at its waist attend separate directions, leaving no blind side. The Nihon Shoki calls Ryōmen Sukuna a rebel slain by the court; Hida remembers a hero who defeated a venomous dragon. Its two faces hold the divided memory of enemy and guardian.

Ittan-Momen — 戦闘姿勢

Ittan-Momenittan momen

White Cloth Dives for the Throat

A red-eyed strip of white cloth folds sharply through a whirlwind of ink. Its long body snaps like a blade, drawing scarlet spray into the narrowing path of escape. Ittan-momen falls upon travelers at night, sealing the face and tightening around the neck. With neither fang nor claw, it commits its entire body to stealing a single breath.

Bakotsu — 戦闘姿勢

BakotsuBakotsu

Bakotsu Kicks Through Scarlet Smoke

A horse skeleton rears through ink cloud and red spray, one foreleg raised high. Torn robes and a black mane stream backward; only the metal at its bony chest catches a hard glint. Bakotsu is the remains of a horse killed by fire and stirred by uncanny force. It carries no weapon, yet the instant a forgotten life rises again has a momentum all its own.
