Introducing Emaki: A Lighter Theme for YOKAI.JP

On September 3, 2026, YOKAI.JP launched Emaki, a light beta theme inspired by warm washi paper and sumi ink. Night remains the default. Switch anytime from the top-left theme control or, when signed in, from Settings.

On September 3, 2026, we launched Emaki as a beta theme for readers who prefer a brighter screen. Our ink-dark theme, Night, remains the default.

A Brighter Reading Experience Inspired by Washi and Ink

Switching to Emaki gives article text, navigation, and forms warm washi-paper tones, ink-colored typography, and restrained accents of vermilion and gold. Only the palette and texture change; the site's content, language, and account data stay the same.

Switch Anytime from the Top-Left Control

Select the moon or sun icon next to the YOKAI.JP logo and language selector in the top-left corner, then choose Emaki or Night. On mobile devices, you can also switch themes from the navigation menu. When signed in, the same options are available under Appearance in Settings.

Your preference is saved on the current device and restored on your next visit. You can switch back to Night at any time.

Immersive Dark Scenes Remain Untouched

Yokai paintings, photographs, card artwork, and the map retain their original colors and contrast. The Yokai Wall gallery, Yokai Town's main world screen, games, shrine ritual screens, individual saga pages, and summer-night features also remain dark because darkness is part of their presentation. Emaki provides a brighter reading surface without changing those experiences.
